Blackwell & District Young Striders Athletic Club was founded in September 2005.
The idea was to develop athletics in the local area for young children.
Since the club was founded, the club became affiliated to the UKA and now competes in local and national competitions.
Athletes from the club have gone on to represent Derbyshire in Cross-Country, Track & field and Sports Hall
The club has close links to all the areas primary and senior schools.

Well done to all our athletes who competed in this years County Championships.
Special mention to Ashleigh Armstrong who won individual Silver and April Searston and Aimee Baggaley who along with Ashleigh took team Gold.
Congratulations also to Lauren Sabin who qualified to represent Derbyshire in the Inter Counties championships.
Also to Jake Searston who is a reserve for the County squad.
A strong turnout for the first meeting of this seasons Track and Field Mini League with some excellent performances.
Special mention to Joe Walker who set new competition records in both the 100 Metres and the Shot and equalled the competition record in the 200 Metres a magnificent effort.See the DCAA website at WWW.DCAA.ORG.UK for a write up on his achievement.
The second meet of the season takes place on the 9TH of June at Moorways.
